Nana Production: Promo EP (Nana Production, 200x)

From Stuaaart, some further underground R&B on vinyl which, unless they go by the name "Nana Productions", is from a further unknown male duo. The style is from the early 2000s era, somewhat similar to Jagged Edge and others from that time. As per the lyrics, they were based out of Chicago but the record itself was pressed and distributed in the UK. All songs were written and produced by Adrian (AC) Cook and Eric "E" Major Shervington, neither of which come up in any searches outside of Discogs (for the above release only.) Many thanks again to Stuaaart for the contribution!

Twlya: Serious (Test Press VLS) (Sai Records, 200x)

More unreleased 90s R&B from songwriter/producer Andrea Martin, mostly known for her 1998 single "Let Me Return The Favor" which was produced by Rodney Jerkins. Prior to this she was an accomplished songwriter and had penned hits for Monica, SWV, Changing Faces and many other popular artists of the 90s. I don't know anything about this particular artist but this appears to be the only thing she ever did and is a sample-heavy mixture of hip hop, soul and ragga. There's no date of release but a feature with another artist from the same label puts it at the early 2000s possibly.

OnJaLee: S/T Promo (200x)

More mid-2000s R&B from Chicago singer-songwriter OnJaLee (Lashay) whose music is a mixture of blues, neo soul and contemporary R&B with a sophisticated edge. Inspired by artists such as Marvin Gaye, Minnie Riperton and Roberta Flack, she started out in 2006 and at some point made it to the semi finals of American Idol in her native Kansas City (as heard in an interview snippet with Ryan Seacrest himself on this very disc) but I believe she may have pulled out before production as I cannot find her name anywhere among the semi finalists. She is now the president of OLashay Strategic Marketing Solutions in Chicago. Many thanks once again to Stuaaart for the contribution.

Zsiaah: Promo EP (200x)

R&B and Caribbean flavas from Chicago-based artist Zsiaah (pronounced See-ah) and produced by Ron Prince, previously of The Kinsey Report. The issuing date is a little hard to make out but I believe this set was from 2008. The first track "I Don't Want To Hold Back" in particular is very synonymous of the mid-2000s era (I would not be shocked if somebody said Monica Arnold recorded this track) while the more conscious-sounding track 3 "Where You Wanna Be" is definitely more old school sounding. I can't find much out about the artist but in 2001, she recorded with Louis Satterfield, formally of Earth, Wind And Fire. As per her ReverbNation page, "her songs represent her prayers and hopes for mankind, aimed to enlighten and uplift the soul, mind and spirit." Many thanks again to Stuaaart for the contribution.

Splitt-N-Image: Broken Tears (Promo CDS) (200x)

From Chicago, IL, a further unknown male group and bearing a slight resemblance to Boyz II Men in their style. A typical late 90s 'male ballad' fare, I think they might've played at weddings and other special events although I don't know for absolute certain. The inlay card states their name as being "Splitt-N-Image" but it is written "Spitt-N-Image" on the disc itself. Nonetheless, there is nothing about them anywhere and no information - not even a date of recording - written on the disc itself.

Ray Earl Lavender (ex-Co Lab Bo): Southern Lovin (EP) (Black Ark Entertainment, 200x)

From tha Dirty $outh, early release from Ray (Earl) Lavender, mostly known for his association with Akon in the mid-2000s and earlier the group Col Lab Bo in 2000. Between 2007-2008, he was signed to Akon's KonLive imprint and released 4 singles, the most widely known being "My Girls Got A Girlfriend" and "Donkey Kong". Previous to this, he was the lead singer of Atlanta, GA group Col Lab Bo known in collectors circuits for their album "The Lock Down" in 2000. Lavender was later redeveloped as a solo artist by the groups manager Andrew Bryan which saw the release of the above single. It was later through him that he met Akon. Sadly he is yet to release an album. The album for the above single sadly went unreleased as did his effort for KonLive "X-Rayted." Many thanks once again to Stuaaart for the contribution.
